Beats To Beats lets players upload songs for everyone to play, after a moderator approves them. Only upload music you own or have permission to share. NJTracker respects the rights of artists and other copyright owners and removes infringing songs when it is told about them.

When you upload a song
- You confirm that you own the song or have the right to share it here, and that it doesn’t break anyone else’s rights.
- NJTracker may remove any uploaded song, at any time, for any reason, with or without notice, including when someone reports it or claims it infringes their copyright.
- A moderator checks every uploaded song before anyone else can see or play it, and may decline it without giving a reason.
- Once approved, other players can play your song, see its title, its artist and your player name, and report it.
Reporting a song in the game
Every uploaded song has a Report button in the song list (copyright, offensive or broken). A song reported by several players is hidden until NJTracker has looked at it. A report in the game is not a legal notice; a copyright owner who wants a song taken down should also send the notice below.
Copyright notices (DMCA)
If you believe a song uploaded to Beats To Beats infringes a copyright you own or act for, send a written notice to NJTracker, at the address below. Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)), the notice must include:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
- the uploaded song you want removed, with enough to find it: its title and artist as shown in the game, and the song’s link or ID if you have it (Report in the game shows the ID);
- your name, address, telephone number and email address;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner.
Where to send notices
NJTracker has not registered a designated agent with the U.S. Copyright Office. Send notices to [email protected] instead; NJTracker still reads them and removes songs it finds infringing.
What happens next
When NJTracker receives a valid notice, it removes the song from the game, usually within a few days, and tells the uploader through the game. A removed song may still be served from a cache for up to an hour. The song’s file is deleted 30 days after removal; a record of the removal is kept.
Counter-notices
If your song was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address with: your signature; the song that was removed (title, artist and ID); a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address and telephone number; and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, outside the United States, any judicial district where NJTracker may be found) and will accept service from the person who sent the original notice. NJTracker forwards it to the person who sent the notice and may put the song back in 10 to 14 business days unless that person tells NJTracker they have filed a court action.
Repeat infringers
Each song removed after a copyright notice counts as a strike against the player who uploaded it. A player with three strikes can no longer upload, and their other uploaded songs are removed. NJTracker may also stop a player from uploading sooner, in appropriate circumstances.
Misrepresentations
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages.
The rest of NJTracker
Beats To Beats has no songs of its own: every song in it is a player’s upload. For anything else on NJTracker, email [email protected].
