Road Trip · Stop 1 · Getting your wheels turning
GOAL · 2 MOVES
The clock starts when you tap Start.
Slide the striped car out through the exit. Every slide is one move.
THE WEEKLY GRIDLOCK
Same ten puzzles for every driver. Resets Monday.
Ranked by fewest total moves, then fastest total time, over all ten. Hinted runs aren't ranked.
GARDEN STATE GRIDLOCK
Garden State Gridlock
FOR THE TUNNEL
Once it’s saved, the Road Trip and the Daily Detours and Weekly Gridlock weeks you’ve opened all play with no connection. Leaderboards need one, and a ranked run has to start online.
WELCOME TO THE JAM
Every puzzle has a leaderboard, ranked by fewest moves, then fastest time (to the hundredth of a second). Past Detours and past weeks rank on their own boards. Each puzzle waits behind a Start button. For a ranked run the board says “Get ready” for a moment while the leaderboard starts its clock, so both clocks start together. The clock keeps running if you switch apps or tabs, because it's a real clock. Restart covers the board and resets it. Undo is always free.
Stars are kept for good and show next to a driver's name on every leaderboard. A new Daily Detour arrives at midnight, New York time, and its board closes then too, when the next one arrives. A week runs Monday to Sunday, and its board closes at midnight Sunday night, when the next week's jams arrive. The winner is whoever is first on the board when it closes; later replays still rank but don't change a winner. A number beside a star counts how many; the shield shows its count on it.
Hints are for the Road Trip only; there are no hints on challenge boards (the Daily and the Weekly). A hint caps that attempt at two stars and keeps it off the leaderboard. 3 free hints a day. After that, a short ad plays before each hint.
Stops open one after another as you clear them, but a whole chapter also opens early once you have 2 stars for every stop before it. Stars from Daily Detours and Weekly jams count too, so a tough stop never walls you in. Inside a chapter, the stops still go in order.
The Road Trip goes on to stop 1,500 with new rules, one at a time, then mixed. Road work: striped barriers never move. One-way: a car with an arrow only drives that way. Tow trucks: driving forward, a tow truck (hazard stripes, a hook at the back) pulls the car hitched to its back bumper along; backing up, it leaves it. Black ice: a car can't stop on ice, so it slides until a car, a barrier or the edge stops it. Every slide is still one move.
Every leaderboard run earns XP toward your driver level, which shows beside your name on the boards and goes wherever your save code goes. Tap a driver's name on a board to see their level and how many stops, Detours and jams they've solved. A puzzle pays 50 XP when it's easy (a goal of up to 8 moves), 100 when it's medium (up to 16), 200 when it's hard (up to 23), 300 when it's expert, and 500 for a challenge stop, when you solve it in three stars. One star pays a third of that and two stars two thirds; beat your best for more stars later and you get the difference. Replays that add no star earn nothing more. Solve all ten Weekly Gridlock jams before the week closes (Sunday at midnight) for 500 bonus XP, whatever your place on the board. Puzzles you solve offline earn their XP once you're back online, though they don't go on the leaderboards. Hinted runs, and runs while you're off the leaderboards, earn none. Levels are just for bragging rights, and they never run out.
Every puzzle you solve for the first time pays one 🎟️ ticket: Road Trip stops, Daily Detours and Weekly jams, ranked or solved offline (hinted runs don't count, and replays don't pay again). Every Weekly Gridlock you play (a jam solved before the week closes) pays 30 tickets more, every Daily Detour you win 50, and every Weekly Gridlock you win 150. Missions & goals (the 🎯 key under the board, or the Menu): three missions a day pay 5 tickets each and 10 more for all three, and three goals a week pay 30 tickets each (the Weekly one a free roll too); only first solves and new stars count. The daily sign-in (the 📅 key under the board, or the Menu) pays a prize every day you open the game: 10, 10, 15, 15, 20 and 20 tickets, then 2 free rolls on day 7, and round again (miss a day and it starts over at day 1). Menu ▸ Ticket Machine turns 20 tickets into a roll, and every new driver level brings a free roll (level 100 brings 100 more), as does every red challenge stop on the Road Trip the first time you clear it. Menu ▸ Invite friends: once you've cleared 10 stops you get an invite link, and a new driver who joins on it and clears 10 stops on the leaderboards gets 10 free rolls, and so do you (for up to 100 friends). Three-star every stop from 1 to 500 and you get 500 tickets, and every stop from 1 to 1000 another 1000 (ranked or offline runs with no hints, once each; a hinted solve never counts, so restart without the hint). A roll wins leaderboard flair, a colour for your name or an effect around it, from Common up to Mythical, a ride or lot for your garage, or a handful of tickets. Wear one colour and one effect: they show beside your name on every board, on your driver card and in the notices other drivers get. A prize you already have pays tickets back. The odds are listed in the machine, and every roll has the same odds. Tickets go wherever your save code goes. While you're off the leaderboards there are no tickets, and the garage unlocks by stars instead.
One boss at a time, fought by every driver together (Menu ▸ Boss Battle). The boss has its own puzzles (Fight! on the Boss Battle screen): random ones of 7 to 12 moves, most with a road rule (barriers, one-way cars, tow trucks or black ice), as many as you like. The Road Trip, the Daily and the Weekly don’t hit it. A three-star solve hits for at most 100 × your Weapon Attack (WATK) ÷ 4, a third of that a star, and each hit rolls between 60% and 100% of that. Everyone starts at 25 WATK: then a three-star solve hits for 375–625, and gear adds more. A replay hits only for the stars it adds. Boss puzzles earn no XP or tickets. Solves made offline hit whichever boss is up when you’re back online. When the boss falls, every driver with 10 or more solves in that fight gets free rolls by damage dealt: 50 for the top 10%, 35 for the top 25%, 20 for the top 50% and 10 for everyone else (drivers tied on damage get the higher one). Prizes wait on the server until you next open the game online. Then a bigger boss comes along. Every driver in the fight is a little fighter on the screen: Boss Battle ▸ Character picks your skin tone, hair and outfit (free to change), and a few rare hair styles and colours drop only when a boss falls, likelier for the drivers who hit it hardest. Gear (Boss Battle ▸ Gear): a weapon, armor, a charm and an enhancement, each with a tier and Weapon Attack (a weapon 17 to 90 WATK, the rest 2 to 18); every driver with a share gets a piece when a boss falls, better ones for better places, plus scrolls; and every 3 to 5 boss puzzles you solve (your first after 3; replays don’t count) drop a piece straight into your bag, its tier drawn with the Ticket Machine’s odds. Each weapon has its own colours, and the better the tier, the finer it’s made. A scroll fills one of a piece’s upgrade slots whether it works or not (100% scrolls add 1 WATK, 60% scrolls 2, 10% scrolls 5; a rare Chaos Scroll works 60% of the time and then changes WATK by −5 to +5, never below the piece’s own), and an ad pays a scroll, up to five a day. Every piece also has an effect in the fight (a chance of a critical hit, extra hits, more damage at times), stronger the better its tier, and from Legendary up a second effect of its own: the piece’s card says what they do. A piece you don’t wear sells for tickets, 2 for Common up to 600 for Celestial. Gear only adds to boss damage, never to the leaderboards.
Spend tickets on something new: a ride for your escape car (a Hoboken cab, a Wildwood tram car, an NJ Transit train, a pink Cadillac at the top of the list…) or a lot to park on (the boardwalk, a cranberry bog, a casino carpet…). Daily Detours and a full Weekly still unlock a few on their own, and everything you've already unlocked stays yours. Menu ▸ Your garage shows the prices and what's next.
If another driver pushes you out of a top-three spot, you'll get a notice here, and Menu ▸ Notices keeps the recent ones.
Touch or mouse: drag a car along its lane. While you drag, the page holds still. Keyboard: Tab to a car and use the arrow keys; hold Shift to slide it to the end of the open lane. Ctrl+Z undoes.
Stars and progress stay in this browser on this device. Menu ▸ Play offline installs the game so it works with no connection.

When on, finished runs and play statistics aren't sent anywhere. You can still look at the boards.
A banner and a badge on the menu when another driver passes you in a top 3. Off, Menu ▸ Notices still lists them.
The same notices on your lock screen, even with the game closed.
A nudge at that time on days you haven’t solved the Detour yet.
Leaderboards know you by your driver name and a random ID made on this device, nothing else. Anonymous play statistics (no ID or name) help improve the game. Stars, progress and settings stay in this browser, unless you take a save code (Menu ▸ Save code).
NO ACCOUNT NEEDED
Get a save code to keep your stars, stops, garage and driver name safe. Enter it on another phone or browser to bring everything along. No account, no email, no password.
Enter this code on any device to bring your progress along. Every device with it keeps in sync by itself.
Anyone with the code can load your progress, so keep it to yourself. Your progress is locked with the code before it leaves this device: the server keeps only the locked copy and can’t read it. A code no device has synced for a year is deleted.
NEED A NUDGE?
A hint takes this attempt off the leaderboard, and it can earn at most two stars. Restart any time for a fresh ranked run.
Hints are for the Road Trip only: there are no hints on challenge boards (the Daily and the Weekly). 3 free hints a day. After that, a short ad plays before each hint.
